High above the lake Lucerne - simply a spectacle in itself! We spontaneously decide to go to the Rigi today. The Rigi is also called the Queen of the Mountains. Whether that's always been the case or a Swiss advertising gag, I can't say.

You can go up the Rigi from different sides, so there's a lot going on at the summit and it's a very popular destination. But there are also paths away from mass tourism, which we chose for ourselves.

From Seebodenalp we hike leisurely narrow paths upwards, through forests, until we arrive above the cloud cover. After a refreshment in the sun at the top, we decide to descend along the so-called 'butt cheek path' - what a name! Okay, after the first few metres we know why: in very steep terrain there are only small trails, some of them secured by wire ropes at lofty heights. You can pinch your butt at one point or another ? Surely this path is not suitable for everyone, and okay, it would be better to walk up it instead of choosing it for the descent. You're always smarter afterwards.

Anyway - we really enjoyed the mega view over the lakes and to the Swiss Central Alps! We'll be back again sometime.
