Let's start, Camper Cabin

The 3D puzzle for adults can begin... ;-) It's like building a small house..

We are assembling our camper cabin!

After the exciting fitting of the base plate, the next adventure now awaits: we assemble the cabin! Will everything fit? And will we do it correctly? After all, it's our first camper that we build, and then such a 'complete project'.... Brooding won't get us anywhere, so let's get to work!

Crispin has built a rolling potest, on which the base plate is aligned. We start with the right side panel: glue on the miter, and then hoist the first panel at a 90 degree angle onto the base plate. Such a side panel is really heavy, and absolutely unhandy. But it has to work the first time, because the glue takes hold immediately. Whew - exhausting. Sweating. Nervousness. Concentration.
It worked! The first wall is up, yay! Fine adjustment. Crispin's dad supports us so that we can assemble the second wall right away, the front side.
With big angles everything is supported, and over night it may become firm.

The next morning we continue: left side wall. Just as hard, but now we already have some 'routine'. Then follows the rear wall at the top, as well as the front slope.
The slope at the back remains open as a 'spare entrance' until the planned door is cut out.

Next day: Today the ceiling panel will be installed. Now we will see if everything fits. Crispin is quite nervous (even if you don't see it on his face). Since only two of us would not be able to do this, friends come to help. First a test run without glue - oops, doesn't fit. Really? Think... ...yes, of course, front and back are mixed up, that can happen in the excitement. As soon as we do it right, everything fits ;-)
Guys, thank you for coming !!!, If you lend a hand together, the ceiling is quickly on it, and there is a lot of laughter at the common snack.

Now the glue is allowed to cure, and the next post will be about the battens and angles that provide stability.

Buona Notte,

Tanja & Crispin
